Our Story
ALD Lighting Solutions was established in 1988, with a clear purpose – to provide a specialist design and manufacturing service to the commercial lighting industry. Over 38 years later, we remain true to that founding vision, combining decades of hands-on expertise with a genuine passion for delivering lighting solutions that have optimal performance, look great and stand the test of time.
What started as a focused manufacturing operation has grown into a full-service commercial lighting company, supplying bespoke and standard luminaires, designing complete lighting schemes and providing a comprehensive range of lighting services to clients across the UK.
We have been working with LED technology since 2005, long before it became the industry standard, and that early investment in knowledge and expertise is what continues to set us apart today.
Who We Are
We are a dedicated team of lighting professionals where every member of the team takes personal pride in the work we do and the service we provide.
Based at our premises in Hailsham, East Sussex, ALD is owner-led and managed by our Managing Director, Dean Murphy. We are a family-run business, originally founded by our existing Finance Director when he combined ALD with our parent company, L.B. Lighting Ltd. A well-respected specialist lighting consultancy, L.B. Lighting has been established since 1966, now over 60 years ago.
Our size is one of our greatest strengths. Unlike larger suppliers, we offer a truly personalised service with a single point of contact for every project, fast response times and direct access to the people who are actually doing the work. Our clients tell us they value this approach, and it is one of the reasons so many of them come back to us time and time again.
What We Do
Although based in the South East, ALD Lighting Solutions design, manufacture and supply a comprehensive range of commercial LED lighting products and systems for businesses across the UK.
Our work covers both interior and exterior lighting, and we handle everything from the supply of standard products through to the design and manufacture of fully bespoke luminaires for complex and demanding projects.
We are particularly well known for our expertise in niche and specialist projects, where standard products simply won’t meet the brief. Our highly skilled team, including experts in sheet metal fabrication, lighting scheme design and lighting controls, can develop a custom solution for virtually any lighting challenge.

LEDSCAPE offer a comprehensive range of high-quality exterior luminaires, and as their appointed distributor for the region, we are able to offer our clients access to their full product range alongside our own manufactured products.

We work with a wide range of commercial clients across the UK, including M&E engineers, architects, contractors, facilities managers, property developers and local authorities. Our projects span a broad range of sectors, including education, healthcare, retail, leisure and commercial offices.
Some of our most notable projects include work at Merry Hill Shopping Centre, Sky Studios Elstree, Lincoln’s Inn Library, Earls Court Station and the Devonshire Park Theatre in Eastbourne. Each of these is a testament to our ability to deliver high-quality lighting solutions across a diverse range of environments.
